“A Childhood Classic That Still Means Something Years Later”
There are very few movies that stay relevant from childhood all the way into adulthood, and for me, Toy Story is one of them. I grew up watching this franchise, and what amazes me the most is that it’s still going strong today. From the first movie all the way to the upcoming Toy Story 5, the story continues to connect with audiences of different generations.
At first, Toy Story looks like a simple movie about toys coming to life when nobody is watching. But as the series progresses, it becomes something much deeper. It explores friendship, loyalty, change, and most importantly, growing up. One of the strongest parts of the franchise is Andy’s journey. As a child, his toys were a huge part of his life. He spent countless hours playing with them, creating adventures, and building memories. But as he grew older, things naturally changed. School, responsibilities, and life slowly took over, just like what happens to many of us in real life.
That is why the story feels so relatable.
Almost everyone had a favourite toy growing up. Whether it was an action figure, a stuffed animal, or a toy car, there was always something we carried everywhere and never wanted to leave behind. But eventually, we grow older and those toys become memories rather than daily companions.
The emotional moment when Andy passes his beloved toys to Bonnie, a younger child, perfectly captures that feeling. He doesn’t throw them away or forget about them. Instead, he gives them a chance to continue creating happiness for someone else. It’s a beautiful reminder that growing up doesn’t mean losing the memories attached to the things we loved.
The toys themselves are another reason why the franchise works so well. Every character has their own personality, fears, and story. Whether it’s Buzz Lightyear learning who he truly is, Jessie overcoming her past, or the rest of the gang staying loyal through every challenge, each toy feels important to the story.
My favourite character has always been Woody. Throughout every movie, Woody constantly puts his friends first and always tries to do what he believes is right. Even when situations become difficult, he remains loyal to the people he cares about. His journey across the franchise is one of the reasons why Toy Story continues to be so memorable.
What I love most about Toy Story is how the movies grow together with their audience. As kids, we enjoy the adventure and comedy. As adults, we begin to understand the emotional messages hidden beneath the story.
That is why, even after all these years, Toy Story remains one of Disney’s most beloved franchises. It’s not just a story about toys.
It’s a story about childhood, memories, friendship, and learning that growing up doesn’t mean forgetting where you came from.
